Haiti big earthquake –my experience-

I have worked at JEN as an office assistant since July 2013. Let me share my experience in earthquake in 12th January 2010, although it has passed 5 years.

When earthquake happened, I had been with 8 members of my family at home that was 10km away from Leogane. I was shocked because it was the first time to experience such a quake. My house was completely destroyed. I went to the hospital in Dominican Republic next to Haiti with my family as I was injured. It was 1 day trip by bus. On the way to go there, I had seen a lot of rubble of buildings on the street, and it was difficult situation to pass through.

With the help of NGO, my house was reconstructed. The most painful accident was that my mother-in-low died due to collapse of building. I will never forget it in my life.

It has passed 5 years since the disaster, many housing and roads have been reconstructed. I am eager to keep contributing to development of this region as a JEN staff.
